Sustainability Award
The sustainability award was targeted at organisations who had made a long term commitment to sustainability. The organisation had to demonstrate that they had embedded sustainability in all that they do and could demonstrate an understanding of the long term benefits of sustainable practices, not only to their own organisation and workforce but also to the local and wider community.
There are a wide range of definitions to sustainability and judges looked for the entrants to identify what sustainability meant to the organisation and the community it serves. In addition, the entrants had to explain the nature of the sustainability initiative, how it applied and the rationale behind its conception. The judges were also looking for best practice and how it is being implemented into the day-to-day activities of the organisation.
