St Fagans
St Fagans is situated on the outskirts of Cardiff. It is one of Europe's leading open-air museums and Wales' most popular heritage attraction. It stands in the grounds of the magnificent St Fagans Castle, a late 16th century manor house donated to the people of Wales by the Earl of Plymouth.
St Fagans became involved with the Recycle Zone campaign late in 2009 after a short site audit to determine the most suitable Recycle Zone as well as identify where the zones would be located. The audit also took into consideration some of the unique challenges faced when considering the location and the type of units required to complement the unique setting.
New recycling units were identified and ordered, and installed in February 2010. The reported volume of material collected through the Recycle Zone units between March and May is 360 kgs.
Between May and December 2010, an additional 1,200 kgs have been collected and diverted from landfill, taking the total saving to over 1.5 tonne!
Please keep coming back to see how St Fagan's have progressed.
