Abercanaid Community School is situated in the village of Abercanaid which is approximately 2 miles south of Merthyr Tydfil. We offer the children a rich, stimulating and challenging environment in which to learn and we pride ourselves on the fact that the whole atmosphere of the school is one of welcome and friendliness to parents and children.

The school were keen to get involved in helping the environment. The recycling bins have had a multi-purpose use, which has been of great benefit. They have found that they were able to use the recycling bins, they purchased, as a tool in educating the young people attending the school on the importance of recycling.
The school have been able to cut the amount of waste sent to landfill by over 2600 litres per week, this would equate to over one hundred thousand litres of waste has been saved over the school year.
Abercanaid Community School are keen not to rest on their laurels and are keen to build on this positive step and implement new ideas hoping to further reduce their waste to landfill.
