Do you know any Green Stars?
Green Stars are individuals or groups of people within the public sector in Wales who do whatever they can to make a real effort to reduce waste. This can be anything that makes a positive contribution towards reducing the amount of resources that are used and thrown away.
Green Stars are the faces of the public sector waste minimisation campaign. They are real people in real jobs that want to make a difference to the way they and those around them work. They don't have to be environmental managers or responsible for the management of waste. They can be anyone who wants to change or challenge the way we work. See the Green Stars here.
What does being a Green Star involve?
Being a Green Star involves you or your team being the faces of the campaign. This means that the campaign will use your story and a photograph of you and your team in some of its communication.
Your story and photos will feature in a year long campaign of communication within the public sector and wider media to highlight all the good work that takes place in the largest sector in Wales.
How do you become a Green Star?
All you need to do is complete an application form either nominating yourself, your team or a colleague(s).
On the application form you must tell us why you think you, your team or colleague(s) deserve to become a Green Star. We want to know what you/they have done and what have been the benefits.
Each application will be assessed on the following:
- Environmental benefits (specifically waste reductions)
- Engagement with colleagues
- Concept/project innovation
- Any financial savings
- Project longevity
We also need a photograph of you, your team or your nominated colleague(s).

What happens once Green Stars have been selected?
Once Green Stars have been selected, we will be in touch with them to find out more about them and what they have been doing. We will also arrange for a professional photographer to come and take a few photographs of the Green Stars at their workplace.
We will then prepare "posters" in electronic form which can then be downloaded from this website. You will be able to save them as your wallpaper on your computer, print them off and display on notice board around your offices, publish them in your internal newsletters and so on.
We aim to launch a new Green Star every month.
We will use these posters as part of our e-communications with all our public sector contacts.
We will also use the Green Stars on any other marketing collateral that is developed specifically for the Envirowise Public Sector Waste Minimisation Campaign.
Envirowise WILL NOT use photographs for any other purpose without first seeking permission from the person or persons in the photograph.
