Brecon Road received funding in 2009-10 of £1,600.75 for wipeable table cloths, a light box, Perspex easels and a washing machine. The light box, Perspex easels, and wipeable table cloths have contributed to paper reduction, with the washing machine used to wash re-usable aprons eliminating the use of disposable aprons.

The school also purchased recycling bins with their funding and the bins were evident throughout the school. The school currently recycle their paper, plastic, cans and batteries.

As well as being resource efficient through reducing paper usage in the school, the school composts their food waste, and the resulting compost is then used on the school vegetable patches, where all the children have the opportunity to grow vegetables to take home and eat when they are harvested.

Mrs Lambe (Headteacher) thought the fund had been of great benefit to the school. Without the funding they would not have been able to purchase equipment to improve the resource efficiency of the school.
