Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council has rolled out the ZERO WASTE challenge! By removing all general waste bins from offices and in kitchens only replacing 1 general waste bin and 1 food waste bin the Zero waste challenge began! In total 63 general waste bins have been removed from the central depot. The council aim to increase their recycling rates with this challenge; they are working with the cleaners to identify reductions in general waste collections and have introduced cardboard collections. This challenge has been set to most of the Civic Buildings. The council have accommodated the different sized offices and layouts – it has been tough for the council trying to get everyone to join in and help with the challenge… but with encouragement their aims will be achieved!
